Who is Adiyogi Popularly Known As SHIVA?

According to Yogic Traditions, ADIYOGI is the First Yogi who propounded Yoga as a science and gave 112 meditations for self realization of Consciousness.

This science was transmitted to his Seven Disciples known as Saptarishis. These enlightened beings were then sent to different parts of the world to spread YOGA as a science.

Out of the seven Rishis, it was Agastya who travelled across the Indian subcontinent to craft the culture of India as a yogic way of life.

But how can a Human Being be known as SHI-VA, the non-physical dimension of existence?

For this we need to understand the exact meaning of the word Yoga. The word Yoga comes from the root Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’, which means union. A Union with the Universal Consciousness.

And, a human being is considered to be in YOGA and a YOGI only when he has become ONE with Nothingness or SHI-VA.

Shiva was the first YOGI to have united with Consciousness, hence he is known as ADIYOGI. (ADI means first).
