Temple – A Meditation Tool

Introduction

In this article, we will discuss about a popular tool of meditation – TEMPLE and the Science behind it.

For exploring the depths of meditation various external and internal tools have been developed over thousands of years.

All over the Indian Subcontinent and across the borders, one can see beautifully built temples since time immemorial.

But, its hard to understand why so many resources have been spent in building these large scale temples. As one can see, still much of the population in India is facing economic hardships.

This is because much more importance is given to Spiritual Well Being of the population in India rather than their material well being.

One needs to clear that Indian Temples are not places of prayer. They are scientific instruments built to enhance Spiritual Well Being of a community or a group of people.

Science of Consecration

Consecration is also known as Prana Pratishtha. It converts a deity made of stone or metal into a LIVE spiritual process.

Prana flows from one object with higher levels to another with lower levels.

This is the basis of Science of Consecration. Through a system of rituals an insentient object of worship is infused with Life Energy or Prana by a great soul like SADHGURU.

Mantra, Yantra and Mandala.

Another important science is the making and installation of Deity within a Temple Complex or as Sadhguru says the technology of GOD Making.

In Tamil Nadu, the temple is still called a Yantra which typically translates to a machine. In Spirituality, Yantra is a machine which takes us into a completely different dimension than one can normally experience with five senses.

To understand a DEITY or the technology of God Making, one needs to be clear about the concepts of Mantra, Yantra and Mandala.

The most simplistic definition of Mantra is that it is just a Sound. For example, AUM is a Mantra made of the three fundamental sounds of the universe: A, U, and M.

Infact, every Akshara or Alphabet in Sanskrit is a Mantra also known as BEEJ Mantra. Further, every sound has four levels of frequency i.e. Gross, Subtle, Causal & Cosmic.

Corresponding to a persons perception i.e. Conscious Mind, Subconscious Mind, Unconscious Mind and Transcendental, he experiences the corresponding frequency of the Mantra and vice versa.

For Spirituality, Mantra is a Cosmic sound which is experienced by Yogis in deep states of Meditation when they have Transcended time and space.

It has been proven by modern science that every sound has a form. So, Yantra is a Linear Dimensional Form of the Mantra.

It is represented as a geometrical diagram composed of point, circle, triangle, square and hexagon, within which powers of the Divine can be invoked.

Mandala is the Pictorial Representation of the Yantra and any form that is pictorially or visually created within the human consciousness forms a Mandala.

Meditation Using Mantra, Yantra and Mandala

Any of the above 3, i.e. Mantra, Yantra and Mandala can be used as a tool of Meditation.

For example, if Mantra is repeatedly chanted slowly it starts vibrating at a very high frequency. This takes the person from Gross to Cosmic experience of reality.

When mind becomes Calm and Tranquil by practicing of Mantras, one can practice concentration on Yantra to explore the depths of Consciousness.

Linga Bhairavi Temple

Mandala which is the Pictorial Form of the Mantra, is made into an IDOL and consecrated to make it into a Live Process. This is the technology of God Making or in other words a DEITY.

For example, Sadhguru has come up with Linga Bhairavi Temple at Isha Yoga Ashram at Coimbatore where the deity is Linga Bhairavi. It is a powerful feminine energy form and is consecrated by SADHGURU.

1.The Mantra is Linga Bhairavi Stuti

2.There is a corresponding Yantra(Linear Form) & Mandala(Pictorial Form) which can be found on the Linga Bhairavi Pendant.

The Linga Bhairavi Pendant is a Small Consecrated Piece of Silver which has images of Yantra and Mandala on its opposite sides. It can be worn by an individual for Personal Well Being.

Sadhguru has created many such small Consecrated Forms, each one serving a specific purpose. Check out the Isha Life website where these can be purchased.

So, next time when you visit a temple you can seek the following information

1.Who has done the Prana Pratishtha of the Deity
2.Corresponding Yantra and Mantra of the presiding Deity
